Our guest speaker on October 20th was District Governor Danny Messersmith as well as Assistant Governor Gary Gray who facilitated the introductions. Danny shared that Sunrise Rotary was the first Rotary Club he visited before he became a member many years back, he also prefers to go by Danny, like a family member would be called as we are all a member of the big Rotary family. Danny also spoke about the Rotary Vocational as well as the goal in Arizona of increasing Rotary's membership through a unique way by creating small satellite clubs that can partner with the nearest established club. Danny presented Bob Ulery with a special recommendation for being a first year member that is the All-star of the District. Way-To-Bob!
President Wayne Legrand presented Danny with a check to support the Rotary Vocational Program.

Sunrise Rotary is supporting New Horizons with their Les Galst Community Garden, this will be the first community garden in the city. Les Galst was the founder of this local non-proft organization that has supported the community for over 40 years. The garden area is located in a lot that is a few doors down from the New Horizons facility located on Moyo Dr. In the last few months (or weeks I would say) the power pole and electrical is on, irrigation water meter was installed and all permits secured. Next on the schedule will be surveying, grading and then the installation of the main irrigation lines. Our club has members who have volunteered their services or time to specific groups creating the garden, and there is always room for more if you have availability.

Thousands of Lake Havasu children scrambled in fun for candy and prizes at the Community Easter Egg Hunt, on Sunday April 17th at SARA Park. It was our club’s second year of hosting the event, and it was a smoothly run success, thanks to club organizers Greg Tryon and Bart Wagner.
